What To Do After Loss

Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026  ·  Version 1.3  ·  whattodoafterloss.com

Home

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before purchasing or using this website. By accessing whattodoafterloss.com or completing a purchase, you agree to be bound by these terms.

These terms apply to our Australian operations. Territory-specific terms will be published as the service expands internationally.

01 About the Service

What To Do After Loss (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a personalised administrative checklist to help individuals manage practical tasks following a bereavement. The checklist is generated based on the selections you make in the online form and delivered to you by email as a PDF document.

The service is an organisational tool only. It does not constitute legal, financial, medical, or professional advice of any kind. Nothing contained in your checklist should be relied upon as formal advice. We strongly encourage you to seek qualified professional guidance for legal, financial, or other specialist matters arising from your circumstances.

02 Eligibility

By using this website and purchasing a checklist, you confirm that:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You are purchasing for personal use, not for resale or commercial purposes
  • The information you provide during the purchase process is accurate to the best of your knowledge

We reserve the right to refuse service where reasonably necessary, including in cases of suspected misuse of the website or breach of these Terms.

03 The Product

3.1 What you receive

Upon completing payment and submitting the checklist form, you will receive:

  • A personalised PDF checklist delivered to the email address you provide
  • A screen-optimised and print-ready version of the same document

The checklist is generated immediately upon form submission. Delivery to your email address is typically near-instant but may be subject to minor delays depending on your email provider.

3.2 Nature of the content

Your checklist is based on the category selections you make in the form. It reflects common administrative tasks associated with those categories in your nominated Australian state or territory. It is not a legal document, does not create any legal obligations, and should not be treated as a substitute for professional advice.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the content is accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that all information reflects the most current laws, regulations, or government requirements in your jurisdiction, nor that it is complete or suitable for your specific circumstances. You should verify any time-sensitive or jurisdiction-specific requirements with the relevant authority.

3.3 Amendments to your checklist

If you realise after purchase that you need to amend your checklist selections — for example, because you missed a category or your circumstances have changed — please contact us via our contact page with your original purchase email address and the changes you would like made. We understand that purchases made during a difficult time may not always reflect the full picture, and we will do our best to accommodate reasonable requests to regenerate your checklist at no additional charge.

04 Payment

The purchase price is displayed clearly at the point of sale and is in Australian dollars (AUD) inclusive of any applicable taxes. Payment is processed securely by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. We do not store your payment details. Stripe’s own privacy policy and terms govern the handling of your payment information.

Your purchase is complete once payment has been successfully processed and confirmed by Stripe. You will receive an order confirmation by email.

For information about refunds, please refer to our Refund Policy.

05 Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including but not limited to the checklist templates, written content, design, and structure, is the intellectual property of What To Do After Loss and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

Upon purchase, you are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use your checklist for your own private purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, or modify the checklist or any part of this website’s content without our prior written consent.

06 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, What To Do After Loss excludes all liability for any loss or damage — whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of this website or your reliance on the checklist content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded.

Where a guarantee under the ACL applies, and to the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited, at our option, to:

  • the resupply of the services; or
  • the payment of the cost of having the services supplied again.

We are not liable for any failure to deliver your checklist caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to email delivery failures caused by your email provider, spam filters, or incorrect email addresses provided at the time of purchase.

07 Disclaimer

As noted on our homepage, this checklist is an organisational tool to help you manage practical tasks after a loss. It does not constitute legal, financial, medical, or professional advice of any kind. By proceeding with payment, you confirm you have read and understood this.

We are not a law firm, financial advisory, medical practice, or professional services provider of any kind. Any reference to government agencies, institutions, or processes within the checklist is provided for general guidance only and may not reflect your specific circumstances.

08 Privacy and Email Communications

Your use of this website is also governed by our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information and forms part of these Terms of Service.

We do not send unsolicited follow-up emails. On the post-payment confirmation page, you will have the option to opt in to receive occasional communications about related products and services from What To Do After Loss. This opt-in is unticked by default and entirely voluntary. Your checklist will be delivered regardless of whether you opt in.

If you opt in, you may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in any email. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy (Section 5). We use Brevo as our email service provider.

09 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website with the date of last update shown above. Continued use of the website following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

10 Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia and, where applicable, the courts of the state or territory in which we operate.
